Mac commercials and a little Irony

I am a huge fan of Macs. It is true, “they just work.” I have also become a fan of the new Mac commercials and the fun they poke at Windows, all harmless in my opinion. One of my favorites is the ad about Macs talking so seamlessly to “that new digital camera from Japan… everything just kind of works with a Mac.” This last weekend I bought the new Nikon D80 camera that just came out a few weeks ago. I excitedly clicked off a couple dozen pics of my children, anxiously plug it up to my iMac and, voila, the Mac cannot read the “new” D80 RAW format; how disappointing. It reads older RAW formats from Nikon, just not the one from the “new digital camera from Japan.” I can still take pics in jpeg format until Apple does decide to read the file, however, I could not help but find the irony in my new digital camera not “talking” with the Mac.
