I was exploring the new version of iTunes tonight when I came across a new Collector’s Edition release of R.E.M.’s I.R.S. years from 1982-1987. It has been some time since I pulled out all of the 80’s R.E.M. albums and went through them. I was inspired to do so this evening.

I am dating myself of course, however, I never cease to be amazed how music has the ability to return us to years gone by. The flood of memories that came over me was nearly overwhelming. I thought of people and places that I have not crossed my radar in years. It was truly fun.

One of my fondest memories was watching R.E.M. open at the Oak Mountain Ampitheatre for the White Animals. Michael Stipe performed two entire sets with his back to the audience. Good stuff.
