I posted a construction update today to the 2PC blog…

The Shack…

theshack.png I am typically not a fiction reader. I enjoy it but find that when I do have time to read there is some measure of guilt for not working on the pile of business and theology books that are swiftly overtaking my desk. Thus, I make this reading recommendation out of confession that it is one of the most enjoyable reads that I have had in many years. At my wife’s urging I undertook reading The Shack. I was resistant but read the forward on a whim and was hooked. Twenty-four hours later I turned the last page and was amazed by the journey that had just taken place.
I won’t reveal the story, but suffice it to say that I considered William Young’s depiction of the Trinity to be one of the finest I have ever read. There is no personal theological disclaimer that is needed for the few that read my blog; they all know that I am simple in my understandings of the God’s Word. But the picture that is painted in this story was spot on as I understand the relationship of the Trinity to be. God has no gender; Jesus is still in his bodily form; there is no hierarchy to the Trinity; all truths out of God’s Word and all depicted beautifully in this book. Now this is not to say that I did not read the entire book without a few theological “hmmmm’s”, but on the whole I thought it was a good representation.
As I finished this book I realized that I had been on a journey. I put it down with a picture of the Trinity and the Godhead that I had never imagined. I am grateful for the place that William’s book has taken me. It is a great story of the redemptive work that Christ can do in the most wounded of men. Thanks to my wife for encouraging me to enter into this wonderful read.

Gas tax scam…

gastax.jpgI posted earlier about Senator McCain’s proposal to institute a moratorium on the gas tax this summer. Since that time Senator Clinton has jumped on that band-wagon and suggest a similar disastrous idea. The only candidate speaking any sense these days as it relates to oil and infrastructure is Obama, who agrees that it is insane. This morning I came across a wired blog that pointed to this spoof page. Keeping the truest form to the best of Nigerian money scams, this hardened democrat speaks truth about the McCain and Clinton ideas for a summer break on gas taxes. Enjoy!
