Entry fee to largest volleyball tournament in the Southeast - $70
One night stay at the brand new Hilton in downtown Atlanta - $140
Bess setting off the first fire alarm in the new hotel with a burnt bag of popcorn - PRICELESS!
Yes, the fire department stormed the recently opened downtown Hilton Gardens when my daughter, while engrossed in Lost, set off the fire alarm trying to pop popcorn in the microwave. Catherine who was in the lobby decided to see how she would handle it until she saw them run in with axes and was fearful she might not open the door for the fireman. Bess, it will take you a few years to live this one down!
This past Sunday was the annual father daughter dance at Hutchison School. I was attending a volleyball tournament with Bess and thus was unable to attend much to my chagrin, however Uncle Richard made a suitable substitute in her mind. Catey was very proud that Richard could put on a show with his mad hip-hop moves for all the other Dads. I was informed with no uncertain terms that I would not have been very good at the limbo. Thanks Richard for stepping in for me.
According to a study to be published on Friday, two of the world’s leading climatologists have gone on record saying that the extreme heat in the Southeast is not a result of global warming. The two Swedish experts have identified the source of the heat as being centralized in the great state of Alabama .
According to their findings, it is a localized phenomenon that has occurred 9 times in the last 25 years. Apparently, every time the University of Alabama hires a new football coach, the collective hot air espoused from the “Bama Nation” about National and Conference championships and premature recruiting “commitments” actually causes a significant increase in air temperatures in the Southern US.
The study went on to confirm that the natural progression of the following events will cause the heat wave to subside rather rapidly after the first of September. Among other things, the scientists note that: the assistant coaching staff at UA that couldn’t get arrested selling Gravy Train at a Michael Vick barbecue will be exposed for the inexperienced group that they are; and Coach Nick Saban will be seen firmly clutching his pot of gold while mumbling about unrealistic fan expectations to the media.
The study has confirmed that by the end of September more seasonable weather should reappear.
My good friend Rob sent me this video and it had to go straight to the site. This is too entertaining. It is a video of 1500 inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center practicing for an upcoming production. I wonder what Filipino taxpayers think of this? Other CPDRC videos can be found on this YouTube channel.
