Amos Lee… WOW!

4DFCFA22-B5D3-4394-8AC7-6125BA539837.jpgSeveral weeks ago I made the mistake of taking the password off of my mac at the house. Since that time I have had to withstand the jibing of several friends who noted my recent musical tastes trending toward Fergie, Rihanna, and The Pussycat Dolls. last.fm is getting me in trouble again. No amount of explanation could convince that it was my teenager that was listening to music on my computer at the house (note iscrobbler), and thus I have just decided to admit that I am a closet Britney fan. There I said it, are you happy!

Now that we have that out of the way, I figure it is time to let my vast readership know my thoughts on the most recent Amos Lee album - WOW! Very good stuff. In keeping with his earlier sounds, Amos has only developed as a writer. The sound are more mature and complex and he brings great diversity to the album. He shows off tremendous range on Won’t Let Me Go. The sounds of Jails and Bombs are just rich. But possibly my favorite track is The Street Corner Preacher. The blues melody, rich acoustic tones, and strong lyrics make this a highlight of the album. Way to go Amos, the new album was a great purchase.

Way to go Sara Bareilles…

A couple of years ago I was listening to an Indie mix that I bought off of AwareStore where I have found a few good Indies. On a side note it was where I first heard John Mayer. I came across a young ladies voice that was irresistible. Beautiful and sensuous the combination of her voice, strong lyrics, and melodies entrapped me. It did not take long for me to buy, listen to, and wear out her debut CD (no longer available). I have long been a fan of Sara and was thrilled a couple of months ago to hear her on Sirius Radio - The Spectrum. There I am driving along when all of a sudden I hear that familiar voice. I did not know the new song, but wow it is great. Then tonight, I cruising through the iTunes store when I notice her song is number two on the downloads list. Way to go Sara, we wish you all the luck and keep up the good work.

Some acoustic Christmas Cheer!

One of my favorite music artists in the last few years is Jason Mraz. I continue to be amazed by his musical creativity and incredible ability to make his voice and one guitar fill up so much of the musical spectrum. If you have never heard it his solo live album, Selections for Friends is truly amazing. I listen to track one, Live at Schubas, on a regular basis. That said, this You Tube Video is a great example of why I love Mraz. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Sixwire on America’s Next Great Band…

Kirby sent this to me today as a plea to please vote for Sixwire. I took the time to hit their myspace page and was duly impressed. Their combination of guitars and great vocals was refreshing in a day when many bands don’t know what harmony is. I enjoyed their sense of humor and was reminded of some great bands that I have come to know and love. Great sound guys. Take a look and get out and vote tonight. Thanks.

New music monday…

I have been fan of Brad Paisley since a Young Life kid asked me to play Mud on the Tires at club one night. I like this latest video in particular because of Brad’s ability to laugh at himself. Not to mention that the video is full of stars such as Jason Alexander, Estelle Harris and Patrick Warburton of “Seinfeld,” as well as William Shatner, Kellie Pickler and the original Marcia Brady, Maureen McCormick. This is also the first country song to top the iTunes music download chart. So for all you nerds out there…
