Music on a Monday…

The more I listen to him the more I like Ray LaMontagne. That instinct was confirmed upon hearing this cover of Crazy, yes the one by Gnarles Barkley. This is awesome stuff.

David Pogue’s new musical…

There is a hardly a day that goes by that I don’t take some time out to read David Pogue’s NYT’s blog. I find David to be highly entertaining and knowledgeable about his subject. But possibly some of the best stuff that David does are his song spoofs about technology. His latest is a video musical he did about the latest gadget from Apple. (I won’t mention it by name due to my previous promises). This video is well worth your time and very funny.

iPhone

iPhoneYes, now I am in the millions that have posted blogs on the day of the release. I have read blogs that range from Woz and the Mayor of Philadelphia waiting in line for their phones. There is a weird rumor that AT&T has boosted the speed on their EDGE network. I have seen pictures of lines and people missing a day of work all over a phone. So what does this say about our culture today? Technology is VERY important to us. We have become a generation and a culture that not only loves, but depends on our technology. Apple and the iPhone will change the course of history with this device, or so we are being told, I wonder if that can be true? How can a device such as this really change our world, I guess we will find out. So for just today, Happy iPhone Day!.

A song to my daughters…

Catherine saw Jon today on the Today Show. Jon McLaughlin is a 24 year old that became popular via MySpace. For a man with three daughters this song rings true in so many ways. I was very impressed.

The kids do camp…

The Nelson kids have all returned from camp. What a time they had! Pictures from this video can be found at our photo site, photos.pcnelson.com. The little girls were at Victory Ranch and the older kids were at Camp Ozark. Thanks.

Shout out to drobo…

drobo.comI have been looking for a good storage solution for some time now. My addiction to music and the need to have reliable backups has left my current storage devices with meager resources. Then I read about DROBO. You have to watch the video, it is truly amazing what this device can do. I received my drobo last week and was already in love with it and the company when I received this email today:

Due to the incredibly high level of interest and sales from people like yourselves (did we say “Thank You!” yet?), we are significantly increasing Drobo production volume. This will allow us to realize production cost savings much earlier than anticipated. We feel the best thing to do is pass those savings on to our customers who made this possible. Therefore, effective immediately, Drobo storage robots offered through the friends & family pre-launch program will be at $499.00. Anyone who purchased a Drobo storage robot at a price above $499 will be rebated a check for the difference (including pro-rata sales tax if applicable). We want to thank this enthusiastic community who have embraced Drobo and made this possible. – Data Robotics, Inc.

How can you beat that!
