Metro Volleyball Starts Today…

MJVA TournamentThe girls 13 Elite Metro Team dominated today in the MJVA tournament in Millington. This was our first tournament together as a team. I thought the girls looked pretty strong, but then I am a total moron when it comes to volleyball.

Some of the girls pictures have been uploaded. I was pretty frustrated taking pictures today. I just don’t have the glass that I need to be able to take good pictures in that sort of lighting. My trusted telephoto’s highest aperture is f3.5 which just won’t cut it. On the way back from Millington though I called around to some shops to see if I couldn’t find an inexpensive high speed fixed focal length glass (yeah right). Of course no one carries anything like that, but one of them recommended that I email Lens Rentals. I had no idea that there was such a service much less that they were located in Germantown. A quick email exchange confirmed that I could rent just what I was looking for. They even offered to let me come by and pick it up on Sunday. Pretty cool. The pics will be better tomorrow!

Buzzards take home the prize….

Buzzards Win!
The 4th grade Buzzards football team took home the Crosscheck Athletics tournament trophy last week. The Buzzards put up an undefeated year allowing only one touchdown the entire season. The boys had a blast, but I am not sure that the dads did not have more. Thanks for your support. It sure was fun!

Buzzards website launched…

Last year I posted one measly little page for the Blues City Buzzards. This year however we have taken things to the next level for the Buzzard’s online presence. This evening the new Buzzard’s Website was launched. It was a HUGE effort by the web development team so thanks to all of you. More to come so enjoy!

Snowmass 2007

M2 in AspenThe Nelson’s have been in Snowmass this week for vacation. We absolutely love it here - there is NO WAY to be bored. We hit the river yesterday and are heading out to do the mountain swing today. I thought I would share a few of the photos from our trip thus far. See you all back in Memphis.

A quest for Autumn

Autumn

I truly love stories like this one. This man spent months attempting to track down the location and photographer that took the “Autumn” picture included on every Windows machine in the world. After months and losing an entire team of workers his search was successful. This is the story of his trial. The quest for the obscure always amuses me for some reason. Now if I could find out where the Pier image from Apple’s stock art is.

Tagging in iPhoto

I had a friend inquiring the other night how to organize his iPhoto pictures. He is a little more OCD than myself in that he wanted to be able put all of his pictures into folders according to who was in them. I explained to him that iPhoto was not folder driven, rather it was driven more by a databse. I showed him how keywords could be added to photos, however he was not quite satisfied as the keyword feature in iPhoto is cumbersome at best.

Well, today I found this. This script has been around for sometime however it just went universal. This freeware plugin brings tagging to iPhoto making finding those pictures a breeze once you have added tags to it.
